Your guide to the Heritage Nanango Country Muster

NANANGO will have both kinds of music, country and western, at the Nanango Music Muster this weekend.

Nanango Showgrounds is currently filled to capacity with visitors for the muster.

About 800 caravans have set up camp.

Several country music artists over three days will play day and night, in what is one of the biggest annual events in the South Burnett.

Nanango Show Society secretary Victor Maxwell said the muster wasn't just for grey nomads and tourists.

He said South Burnett residents were encouraged to attend.

"For people who want something to do this weekend, we've got it happening," he said.

Mr Maxwell said the muster was classic country music.

"No Keith Urban, although we'd like Keith Urban, he'd be expensive," Mr Maxwell said. Artists come from all over Australia to play at the Nanango Muster, from locals such as Dean Perrett and artists from as far as Melbourne.

A bar and canteen will be running all day as well as market stalls.

Acts will play over the three days including up to 80 walk-on acts.

"At least 20 acts a day with half-hour gigs," he said.

The ages of artists start as young as the early 20s and late teens.

The Nanango Show Society also has the Waterhole Rocks coming in October for those who prefer the rock genre.
