Neville Wran's daughter charged with murder

The daughter of former New South Wales premier Neville Wran has been charged with murder over a stabbing death in the inner Sydney suburb of Redfern.

Harriet Wran, 26, was arrested along with Michael Lee, 35, in Liverpool on Wednesday afternoon, the ABC reported.

Ms Wran was transported from Cabramatta Police Station in the back of a police van, escorted by three police officers, and taken to Liverpool Court House.

She is the second youngest of the former premier's five children and is a modern history student at the University of Sydney.

One of her last public appearances was at Neville Wran's funeral in May.

She is due to face court later today accused of killing Daniel McNulty, 48, who was stabbed to death on Sunday outside a public housing block in Redfern. Mr McNulty was known to police as a drug dealer.

Police said emergency services were called to a unit block on Walker Street about 7.45pm on Sunday.

Upon arrival, they found a 48-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. He died at the scene.

A second man, aged 42, also sustained multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

 

Police from Redfern Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene at the address.

On Wednesday afternoon, police arrested a 26-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man in Liverpool.

The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station and the woman was taken to Cabramatta Police Station.

The 35-year-old was charged with murder, attempt murder and aggravated break and enter, he was bail refused to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday.
