New addition to the state's longest rail trail
FUTURE users of the longest rail trail in Queensland were excited for the official opening of the Yarraman Station Park Interpretive Centre on Friday.
Yarraman is the starting point for the 161 kilometre recreation trail that goes all the way to Wulkuraka.
Chair of the Moving Yarraman Forward Committee, Terry Reid was proud of what they had created.
"This project has been ongoing for nearly three years and as you can see from today's turn out the locals are excited to see the final product,” Mr Reid said.
The event was officially opened by Toowoomba Mayor, Paul Antonio who praised the community's hard work.
"This monument is a symbol of the 'can-do' attitude shown by the people in this area,” Cr Antonio said.
The Yarraman tourist attraction is thanks to the efforts of sign writer Ian Stewart-Koster, who created the original signs 12 years ago.
Stanwell Corporation executive general manager, Jenny Gregg was proud of the company's involvement.
"It's a great thing for fitness enthusiasts and families,” she said.
