New coach Barambah proud of soccer team

FOOTBALL: Joel Sommerfeld took up coaching the first and second division teams of the Barambah Bears football club following an injury.

"I've only started coaching them properly over the last month,” he said.

"In that time I've seen quite a considerable improvement.

"There is a lot more structure now.”

Sommerfeld has been involved with the club since he was six years old.

"I have played since I was in the juniors,” he said.

"I'm injured so I can't play for them now but I still wanted to be involved in some way, so I'm just trying to help them get better.”

Barambah's second division team had a win against Nanango Panthers on Saturday morning in Wondai, part of South Burnett Football's Super Saturday event.

"Barambah won 1-nil,” Sommerfeld said.

"They're getting better, starting to play in proper formation.

"They're working well as a team, we've just got to work on finishing goals.”

Sommerfeld said the team was down on players due to school holidays.
