New hair salon promises to blow in with a twist
KINGAROY residents will have a new place to get their hair cut this year with a new salon to open this month.
Having finished her hairdressing apprenticeship in 2018, Vanessa Watt is ready to give the people of her hometown a new look.
Doors to her new salon, Infiniti Hair, at 173 Kingaroy St, will open on January 16 where she hopes to make a name for herself as the place to go for the latest trends.
"In Kingaroy we are usually behind the latest trends compared to everyone else and because it is a small town we get into out ruts and we don't get out of them,” she said.
"I want to see what I can do for the people here in the South Burnett.”
Miss Watt has been mastering her craft while completing her apprenticeship working part time at Amiche's Hair Salon and then full time at Studio J.
She has built up the confidence to open her own salon through competing and placing at competitions during her apprenticeship including third place in men's fashion cutting at TAFE Queensland's Friendly Games.
Opening her own salon has been a goal for Miss Watt since her school days, and as a local she understands the competition of salons in town.
"There are a fair few but I think my salon will be different,” she said.
"I have researched what is in town so when the salon is up and running I will have stuff that is not offered.”
Miss Watt is grateful for the business advice and support she has received from her mum who owns The Look.
"She has been helping me business-wise, with what I need to have before opening day,” she said.
She has not yet received the keys for her space but Miss Watt has already started taking bookings and can't wait to get started.
