FOLLOWING the closure of Ringsfield House, the Nanango Historical Society were left searching for a new home.

They have now found one in the old Nanango Masonic Lodge.

Society president Roslyn Gregor said she was looking forward to the society moving into the lodge.

"The society will continue to collect and protect items of historical significance to Nanango to share the fruits of those endeavours with present and future generations,” Mrs Gregor said.

"The society will conserve the main hall of the building, its furnishings and artefacts as is and will open the building to visitors.”

The hall was originally built in 1902.

"Identifying plaques depicting the history of the lodge will be created,” Mrs Gregor said.

"The society will work co-operatively with the council and tourist organisations to inform and share with visitors the extraordinary dedication of service and contribution Masonic Lodge members made to the well-being of the entire Nanango community.”

The lodge was supposed to be moved to the grounds of Ringsfield House, but that plan fell through.

"The society will now undertake a maintenance program to install a new front entrance including a new disability access point, painting the exterior, upgrading plumbing and other minor works,” Mrs Gregor said.
