New range in the South Burnett
THE South Burnett's rural workforce have access to a wider range of utility vehicles now that Ken Mills Machinery are stocking Isuzu utes and SUVs.
The Japanese company is a leading producer of diesel engines and has identified the South Burnett as the next step in a national strategy to increase its market share.
The move marks 100 years in the company's history, which started when Tokyo's Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Company cooperated with the Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Company to build cars.
In 1933 the operation changed its name to Automobile Industries Company and started marketing under the name Isuzu, named after the Isuzu River, with the English translation being "fifty bells”.
The trucks were first marketed in Australia by General Motors Holden under the brand Bedford by Isuzu in 1978.
Isuzu's signature rural vehicle, the D-Max, is well suited to farm work.
It comes standard with a 3.0-litre diesel engine and has a range of body types, from a tray-back suitable for carting hay, tools and fencing gear to dual-cab with the tonnage to get the job done while still scrubbing up nicely for a trip into town.
The EX grade of the D-Max range is great for the farm.
It's a stand-alone budget specification available only as a single-cab chassis high ride with four-wheel drive and a manual gearbox.
Standard features include a four-speaker stereo with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning, halogen headlights, hill descent control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and vinyl floors.
Like all D-Max units, it has a 130kW/430Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
The D-Max LS-T is at the higher end of the market and is available as a crew-cab high ride ute with 4x4, available with either manual or automatic transmission.
Standard features on the LS-T grade include an 8.0-inch display with built-in sat nav and reversing camera, projector lens headlights, LED running lights and tail lights, proximity unlocking, 18-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, chrome radiator grille, lockable chrome tailgate, roof rails, hill descent control, climate control, pollen air filter, power windows, leather-wrapped steering wheel and carpet flooring.
The D-Max AT 35 is a real off-roader, with 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 35-inch 315/70 Nokian Rotiiva AT off-road tyres attached to high-performance Fox shock absorbers and massive wheel arch flares.
Options include a 27 LED square work light, ARB inflater, an emergency inflation kit, satellite navigation system, reversing camera and bash plates that protect the radiator, engine and transmission.
The mu-X is a family-friendly wagon-SUV combining the grunt of the D-Max engine with comfort and reliability needed by a large family.
It has a three-tonne towing capacity, standard 130kW/430Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and 4x4 suspension system, plus seven seats as standard.
