Newman declares: It's either me or Palaszczuk

CAMPBELL Newman has narrowed down voters' election choices to just two - himself or Annastacia Palaszczuk.

Despite the LNP's massive majority, Mr Newman said Queenslanders could see the Labor leader as premier if he lost his seat of Ashgrove.

Ms Palaszczuk is expected to hold her seat of Inala with no issues.

Recent polls put Mr Newman 10 points behind his Labor challenger, Kate Jones, in the electorate of Ashgrove, which he currently holds with a 5.7 per cent margin.

Labor would need to win at least 36 seats to win government at the next election. Insiders said the party was aiming to pick up 20 to 25, with a win expected to be a long shot.
