Newman relaxes liquor licensing requirements

TOUR operators can now serve two standard alcoholic drinks to their guests without requiring a licence.

Small businesses - such as restaurants, cafes and small community clubs - have had liquor licensing requirements relaxed.

And regional licensed venues will be able to pay their fees in instalments if they are going through financial hardship.

Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie said he had removed 44 requirements from the Liquor (Red Tape Reduction) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2013 to reduce paperwork and complexity from tourism businesses.

He said gaming machines could not be destroyed without commissioner approval and there were now less prescribed requirements for gaming machine licence applications.

The legislation passed on Wednesday night.
