NICOLE Kidman is well and truly over talking about her Oscars clapping incident.

The Aussie actress and her husband, Keith Urban, were interviewed on CNN's New Year's Eve special in the US and the couple grimaced when host Andy Cohen raised the issue.

"Did you ever expect that that would become such a thing," Cohen asked about the clap.

Urban rolled his eyes before responding, "I mean, it's called a logical clap when you don't want to slam your hands together with rings but what do you want to do?"

He then handed the microphone to Kidman who told Cohen, "I wish that there was more important things to be concerned about or that people were focused on more important things than that sort of clapping, that's what I would say".

Kidman was widely mocked on social media during the 2017 Academy Awards when she was shown clapping in a rather odd fashion.

The Big Little Lies star was asked to please explain the weird clap during an interview with KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O last March and told the radio stars it was all because of some expensive jewellery she was wearing on her fingers.

"It was really awkward," she exclaimed.

"I was like, 'I wanna clap, I don't wanna not be clapping' - that'd be worse, right? Like 'why isn't Nicole clapping?'

"So therefore I'm clapping but it was really difficult because I had a huge ring on that was not mine - but it was absolutely gorgeous - and I was terrified of damaging it."

Kidman has a big 2018 ahead of her with several films in the works.

She's set to star alongside Russell Crowe and Joel Edgerton in Boy Erased, a movie about the son of a baptist preacher is forced to participate in a church-supported gay conversion program.

Kidman will also be seen in Aquaman with Jason Momoa, Destroyer with Bradley Whitford and She Came to Me with Amy Schumer and Steve Carell.
