Night of bowls to support our farmers

LAWN BOWLS: THE Wondai Country Club is doing their part to support the regions farmers through the drought and the club is encouraging the community to get on board.

The bowls club will be hosting a night of bowls on Friday, September 21 to raise funds for farmers.

The night of bowls will start from 5.30pm with a BBQ before players hit the bowling green.

Secretary of the club, Evan O'Rourke, said that the event is open to everyone in the community to raise funds for a worthy cause.

"We are hoping to have a full complement of 80 players utilising the eight rinks with teams of five a side,” he said.

"A number have already nominated however there is still space for members of the general public from anywhere in the South Burnett who would like to submit a team of five whether it's from a business house or sport followers and even general family members.”

"Even if any residents just wanted to come for the barbecue and just watch, then that would also be great as they could contribute a small amount to support the cause,” O'Rourke said.

The night of bowls and the BBQ will be $15 per person.
