No more heavy lifting at the Woolies checkout

AS WE move into the new normal, Woolworths has made a switch to pre-coronavirus operations.

From this week the supermarket giant will return to packing customers’ bags at the checkout.

As long as the bags are clean for staff to handle, you will no longer have to do the heavy lifting when shopping.

A Woolworths spokeswoman said the supermarket would offer a like for like replacement if a reusable bag wasn’t hygienic to handle.

She said rigorous hygiene standards and social distancing requirements would still be in place at stores.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their understanding while we adapted our check-out process to minimise handing where possible during the height of the pandemic,” the spokeswoman said.

“We’ll continue to monitor the situation closely and make any necessary adjustments.”
