Nude video helps band make it into Channel V top 10
ROCK/POP band Nine Sons Of Dan, with members hailing from Grafton and Coffs Harbour originally, have made it to the top 10 of Channel V's Oz Music Artist Of The Year 2012 competition.
As can be seen by below, the sprightly young up-and-comers share the honour with an impressive list of high-profile Australian artists, most of whom are signed to major record labels - unlike Nine Sons of Dan.

The band has chosen to remain independent and has rejected initial offers from companies. It is not a common path to success but bands such as Birds of Tokyo and Karnivool have shown that it can be done.
As part of the campaign to attract votes, and just for a bit of fun, the band's drummer, Morgan "Flakey" Blake, is featured in a nude drum dedication to Delta Goodrem in which he lip-syncs one of the Aussie diva's songs.
Wil, who filmed Flakey's cheeky dedication, also joined in the video campaign for votes by diving from a staircase into some boxes. See it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UpliAJus-IU
Having supported tours for a swag of artists such as Simple Plan, The Darkness and Good Charlotte, the five-piece have so far funded their own hit EPs, singles and video clips and have already rejected management and record deal offers from notable industry names.
Bass player Wil Edgar was born and raised in Grafton and played for some years in local metal/hardcore act Unlikely Faithful.
He said on Friday that the band was highly focussed and talented musicians who were playing it smart while having a ball doing what they all love.
While critics have described the band's breakthrough hit She's So Fine as sacharin, compared to the band's live performances, Will said those who judged the band by the 2010 single were not getting the full picture.
"There are so many bands out there that get caught up in the whole issue of 'selling out', but we are just putting out music that we like and that we know works ... it's where we need to be in order to do what we love," he said.
Anyone who has seen the band live can testify to a far rockier band than is seen on She's So Far and much closer to their latest single Diamond Skin - however both video recordings have a far more polished finish than their live versions.
Wil is the son of Terrie and Geoff Edgar of Grafton. He also worked as a waiter at Georgie's Cafe for many years and completed Grafton TAFE's contemporary music diploma. The course was attended by fellow Nine Sons of Dan guitarist Daniel Cox which is where the connection was made.
Nine Sons of Dan recorded at least one song at Grafton TAFE as part of Cox's course - it appeared on the 2009 GraftonTAFE CD.
It should be noted that Daniel Cox does not have nine sons.
Grafton TAFE launched its 2012 CD - a collection of student songs called Groove Therapy - at the TAFE markets yesterday. The course has been releasing CDs written and recorded by its students since 1997.
Will said his manager Marc Mancini of AAA Management had been integral in the band's success thus far.
Other members of Nine Sons of Dan not mentioned previously are Jay Bainibridge (vocals) and Alex Pundyk (rythm guitar/vocals).
