Obi-Wan sleep until we travel to a galaxy far, far away

ADAM "Baytrooper" Clarke will be one of the hundreds of people gripping the edge of their cinema seats at midnight on Wednesday for arguably one of the biggest nights in movie history.

With the long-awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens hitting the screens in less than 36 hours, tickets are selling out fast to the midnight premieres across the Fraser Coast.

"I'm extremely excited and looking forward to seeing all the new action!" mega-fan Adam said.

Adam is part of the non-profit group 501st Legion, a large group of people who dress up in movie-accurate Star Wars costumes and raise funds for charity.

While he is often seen at Fraser Coast events wearing a Snowtrooper or Sandtrooper costume, he said he was going to stick to plain clothes for the premiere, so he could enjoy it in comfort.

"It's just timeless," he said.

"The iconic characters, the battle between good and evil, the dark side and the light side - it's such an epic story."

A Big Screen Cinemas Hervey Bay spokeswoman said the largest cinema had sold out all 251 seats for the midnight screening, and a second 132-seat cinema has been made available.

"The second one, which we just opened for the night, has about 80 seats left and is in 3D," the spokeswoman said.

"So there'll be two screenings on at the same time."

A member of the Maryborough @Cinemas management team said for the Maryborough midnight screening, she recommended people arrive two hours before the screening starts.

"I would say get there at 10 or 10.30pm on the night."
