OPENING SOON: Meet manager of new Bunnings store in Kingaroy
KINGAROY Bunnings manager Chris Carter said an official opening date had not yet been chosen, but there were plans for a big celebration when doors opened in late May.
"We've got a grand opening that we will run across the first two weekends of our opening," Mr Carter said.
"We'll have jumping castles, sausage sizzles going, and heaps of other fun activities to hopefully get the local community involved with our grand opening.
"The barbecues are our main way of fundraising, so we will be inviting local community groups in to raise money through our famous sausage sizzles."
Mr Carter said he loved doing what he could for the South Burnett community.
"We don't have any specific plans for who we'll be doing community service for yet but there will definitely be heaps more to come because it's a big part of what we're about here at Bunnings," he said.
"We love taking the opportunity to do good around our community.
"We didn't want to be a business that comes to town with all of our own staff from elsewhere.
"We want to be here and become a part of the local community, which I think we have done by hiring so many locals. I'm looking forward to working with them."
Mr Carter said he wanted customers to head into the store and sport the familiar local faces.
"I'm originally from Brisbane and I put my hand up to move out here," he said.
"I've been living here in Kingaroy since the start of the year now, will hopefully be staying for the long-term.
"I love it here. Love the town, the locals, the weather, and just how welcoming the community has been.
"Coming from Brisbane to Kingaroy has been a big change but I've found I really love the small-town life."
