OPENING SOON: Pools to offer first swim of the season

SOUTH Burnett families will have their first chance to take a dip in one of the region's pools when swimming season starts next weekend.

The South Burnett Regional Council has announced the current managers at the Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon swimming pools will continue under management agreements for the next two years.

The Blackbutt, Murgon, Proston and Wondai Pools will be open for the summer season on Saturday, September 21.

The Kingaroy WJ Lang Memorial Pool will open on Wednesday, September 25 - delayed due to the need to complete general maintenance.

The Nanango Indoor Aquatic Centre has remained open all year.

All pools will be offering a range of exercise programs during the swim season.

As the region prepares for warmer temperatures, the council encourages the community to utilise the pools to cool off, swim laps, attend a fitness class, learn to swim or improve their swim strokes.

The Kingaroy pool features three pools, a 50m heated outdoor pool, a children's wading pool and an indoor learn-to-swim pool.

Families are encouraged to have a game of volleyball at the Kingaroy pool as well as go for a swim.

Murgon's pool has two pools, a 50m heated outdoor pool and a children's wading pool.

Wondai's facility has one 25m heated outdoor pool.

All pools offer swimming passes and seasonal passes to help reduce the cost of swimming.

Pool areas can be utilised for family picnics and children's birthday parties.
