OPINION: Why I'm looking forward to getting dunked tomorrow

ATTENDEES at tomorrow's Family Fun Day will have the dubious honour of dunking the mug you see above into a tank of (presumably very cold) water.

This is your chance, people - if the paper has accidentally spelt a name incorrectly or cropped a photo in a slightly less and flattering way, you can take it out on me at the dunk tank.

In all seriousness, I can't wait to get up there and take one for the team.

The LifeFlight team, that is.

Here at the Times, we're often some of the first to hear when a LifeFlight chopper has been dispatched to an accident.

Their media team is phenomenal when it comes to getting information out, and we take our responsibility seriously when reporting on these accidents.

Often the accidents happen in remote parts of our region that would be unreachable if not for the LifeFlight team.

It is not a stretch to say that many people in our community would have lost their lives had the choppers not been ready to go.

I am in awe of the work they do, and I can't think of many more worthy causes to get behind.

Cardell Turner and the whole team behind tomorrow Family Fun Day deserve to be congratulated for their work in putting such a great event together.

I am proud to be part of it and to throw my support behind the day, and the incredible cause it is supporting.

I hope to see many of you there, ready to dunk me at 12.30pm.
