Police find Fortitude Valley device to be 'harmless'

UPDATE 11.37am:

POLICE have described an suspicious object that shut down part of the Fortitude Valley in Brisbane was harmless but "designed to intimidate".

A stretch of Arthur St between James and Chester streets was shutdown this morning after the device was discovered.



EARLIER: Suspect device shuts down Fortitude Valley street

A STREET in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley is off limits after police found a "suspected suspicious device" under a vehicle on Arthur Street.

Police have now isolated the area as officers investigate.

The device was discovered at 7.40am.

Arthur St falls between James and Chester Streets in the Valley, which adjoins Brisbane City.

Police are yet to ask people to leave the area, but are suggesting drivers to stay away.
