A NANANGO resident has accused the South Burnett Regional Council of ignoring the concerns of non-business owners in the town over the streetscape.
Barry Page collected 410 signatures over the past week from around the streets of Nanango from residents who want a halt to the project.
He said although Mayor Wayne Kratzmann had consulted with business owners within the past week, it was the residents of Nanango who would be hit hard by the streetscape.
"There's been no public meeting over this," Mr Page said.
Although he was not against an upgrade to the Nanango CBD he said it should not be at the expense of removing parking spots from prime positions in front of shops.
"People don't want a loss of parking. It's going to cause a lot of problems with the elderly," he said.
"Some of the elderly have trouble carrying shopping bags to their car, so this is only going to make it worse."
Under the streetscape, centre parking on parts of Drayton St have been removed, but centre parking will be installed in part but not the entire street.
Cr Kratzmann last week said there would be an increase in overall parking within the CBD once finished but parts of Drayton St would have fewer parks.
The petition requested that streetscape work end immediately.
Council CEO Gary Wall said the petition would probably be addressed at the next council meeting.
Do you support the Nanango streetscape?
