Petrol pump rip-off exposed in Toowoomba
TOOWOOMBA motorists are angry that they are paying 20 cents a litre more than Brisbane drivers.
Motorist Leanne Russell said residents were being "absolutely ripped off".
"We went to Brisbane and there was a massive difference," she said.
"Petrol stations are the Grinch that stole Christmas because it's making it expensive to do things with your kids.''
The average price for fuel in Toowoomba is sitting at 145.6 cents a litre.
RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith said the fuel price was higher than it should be.
"A fair price would be 127.2 cents," she said.
Ms Smith said places like Brisbane were part of a price cycle that included extremely high and low prices.
"Toowoomba doesn't have that cycle and motorists will notice that prices stay steady.
"They don't get to take advantage of super lower prices."
Motorist Craig Firrell said prices were "getting up there".
"Like everyone, I'd like to see them go down," he said.

Caltex spokesman Sam Collyer said each area was subject to unique competitive factors that influenced the price.
"Site operators decide the range of fuel and convenience products they want to sell and an appropriate price in order to cover the costs of their business," he said.
"There can often be differences in fuel prices between regional towns, as they are different markets subject to their own competitive pressures."
Caltex is responsible for petrol pricing decisions at three sites in Toowoomba.
