THE temperature wasn't the only thing heating up the greens at the Wondai Golf Club on Saturday.

The mercury reached the high 30s, but that wasn't going to deter play when Wondai Country Club hosted a nine hole, two person Ambrose event on the weekend.

The social golf day may have been a laugh but it didn't stop some the 16 two-person teams playing some great golf.

Winners on the day Jody and Mick Rankin with 31, runners up were Beck Payne and Dean Alberts and 3rd place went to Kerryn and Mark Herrod.

Nearest the pin honours went to Tom McDonnell on Hole 9, and Mick Rankin was closest on Hole 5.

Regardless of where the players finished, they all enjoyed a cold drink and some tall tales once they were back in the shade of the club house.
