Council approves major Maidenwell development

SOUTH Burnett Regional Council has approved using a Maidenwell property for a soil conditioning facility.

The facility would be located at 956 Brooklands Pimpimbudgee Rd, Maidenwell.

The council has approved a change of use application for the property, which will start the process for the facility, at their council meeting on Wednesday, September 19.

The application is under ERA 33 and 53, meaning the property would be used for crushing, milling, grinding and screening more than 5000 tonnes of material a year, and composting and soil conditioner manufacturing organic material or organic waste.

Councillor Gavin Jones said there would be benefits to the South Burnett when the facility was up and running.

"It'd have benefits to the whole region, good luck to them," he said.

The production volumes for the proposed operation will have a maximise throughput of 10,000 tonnes per annum.

The proposed hours of operation will be 6am to 6pm on Mondays to Saturdays, in line with the existing mining activity operations on the site.

No operations are proposed to occur on Sundays or public holidays.
