Players take to the green for annual competition
PLAYERS from across the state travelled to Nanango on the weekend for an annual lawn bowls competition.
The Nanango Rosebowl Carnival was hosted by the local club, which featured some players who had been attending the tournament for at least 20 years.
A total of five games were played across the two days with only six ends separating the top eight teams.
Event organiser Glen Yeates said players enjoyed a weekend of good bowls and catching up with old mates.
He said most of them had already indicated they would return next year for the competition.
The team to take out first place was made up of Neil Russell, Dave Williams, Bob Hammond and Dave Keogh from Everton Park and Nanango.
Lew Stumbris, Mark Williams, Ashley Harris and Paul Geritz from Kawana, Kingaroy and Gayndah claimed second place.
A team made up of all Kingaroy locals including Mal Macleod, Danny Holligan, Glen Turner and Bruce Johnston came in at third place.
Steve Carland, Mark Hooley, Brian Dugdell and Coll Terry from Nanango, Yarraman and Kingaroy slotted in at number four.
Fifth place was awarded to Bogga Kath, Tony Smith, Geoff Gees and Peter Wright from Toowoomba, Nanango and Hervey Bay.
Jack Horne, Gary Dan, Mal Kerr and Greg Emery from Kandanga were placed at 6th in the competition.
Yeates said he would like to thank Nanango Taxi and Limousine for their support.
