THEY were the two words whispered in fear across the Sunshine Coast after Queensland Police called for information after a 10-year-old girl went missing from Palmwoods -- "not again".

Today is the 12 year anniversary of Daniel Morcombe's disappearance.

The Sunshine Coast remembers what it feels like to worry a missing child.

Police are yet to give any further information about the young girl, who has not been seen since 11.30am on Sunday, when she was on her blue BMX bike.

She has not made contact with her family since.

This morning police confirmed that the girl is still missing.

Daniel vanished on December 7, 2003, after leaving home bound for the Sunshine Plaza to buy gifts for his family.

It took almost a decade before charges were laid against Brett Peter Cowan, the man who would later be convicted over the murder of the 13-year-old.

Queensland Police Service are expected to release further information today as they, and the Sunshine Coast community, look for the missing youngster.

She was last seen wearing a pink skirt and white shirt and is of Caucasian appearance, 150cm tall, brown hair and hazel eyes.

If anyone has seen the girl or may have information as to her whereabouts, police urge them to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
