Police hunt attacker of student punched in face

AN ASSUMPTION college student was punched in the face by an unknown man on the corner of Dragon St and Bracker Rd on Monday morning.

Warwick Police child protection officer Detective Senior Constable Julie Hauff said the 15-year-old student was walking to school about 8.15am.

"A man unknown to the student approached him and punched him in the face," she said.

"This student is a good kid and the assault was unprovoked and unexpected.

"The man was in Mel Gibson Park near Cinema Heights."

The man was described as being Caucasian with a skinny build, about 165-170cm tall with short, scruffy, sandy blonde hair and facial stubble.

Detective Hauff said the most distinguishing feature was a piercing the man had.

"He had a long, fluro-green, conical shaped ear piercing," she said.

The man was wearing a black singlet with Everlast in white writing, black tracksuit pants and black canvas shoes similar to Vans brand.

Anyone with information is urged to phone the Warwick station on 46604444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
