POLICE have charged a man and woman following a rooftop siege in Ipswich on Friday.

Police attended Goleby's Basement on the corner of Brisbane St and West St shortly before 11am to speak to a man when he and a woman ran up an internal staircase and onto the roof.

The pair stayed on the roof until about 7.40pm when police negotiators were able to convince them to come down.

They were both taken into custody without further incident.

A 21-year-old woman from Burdell in Townsville has been charged with unregulated high-risk activities, obstructing police, committing a public nuisance and wilful damage.

A 23-year-old man from Rosslea in Townsville has been charged with unregulated high-risk activities, obstructing police and breach of bail conditions.

The pair is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on June 24.
