BREAKING: Capras players investigated after serious incident

SEVERAL CQ Capras players are under investigation by the police after a "serious incident" early Sunday morning.

CQ Capras Operations Manager Brendan Bowers said several players were at a nightclub in Rockhampton when there was a physical altercation with other parties around 3.30am.

In a letter to sponsors, the club said they would be conducting their own internal investigation into the incident in conjunction with the police investigation.

He did not say what punishment the players may face as a result.

"Until we finalise the investigations we don't want to pre-empt what may happen (to the players)," he said.

"We want to make sure we get all the evidence first to make sure we have all the information."

Brendan said some of the players had contacted club officials to let them know about the alleged incident.

"We have been in contact with the Queensland Police Service, the Queensland Rugby League and all other parties involved," he said.

"We will act swiftly to ensure that any allegations are addressed and dealt with in an open and transparent manner."
