Woman's body discovered during search for missing person

UPDATE 10AM: Police have discovered the body of a woman earlier reported as missing in the Ripley area.

The find was made about 5.15pm Thursday.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.



THURSDAY, 3PM: Police have stepped up the search for a missing Ripley woman, calling in crews on trail bikes to scour bushland in the area.

The Polair chopper will also return to South Ripley tonight in the hope of locating the 22-year-old, who was last seen Wednesday afternoon.

SES volunteers are also on standby and will be deployed Friday morning if the woman is not found this evening.


THURSDAY, 9AM: POLICE hold concerns for the safety of a 22-year-old Ripley woman who has spent a night in bushland.

The woman was reported missing Wednesday afternoon, after wandering into bushland near Wards Rd about 4.30pm.

It is believed the woman was only wearing light clothing at the time, and that she was carrying a mobile phone.

The Polair chopper and dog squad were called in overnight to conduct searches in the area, without success.

Police are following up with further inquiries this morning before deciding on whether or not to ramp up the ground search.
