Police sift leads over mosque fire

TOOWOOMBA police are still sifting through leads in the hunt for the person or persons responsible for setting fire to the Garden City Mosque.

Darling Downs police district officer Detective Inspector Dave Isherwood said police were looking at a number of "persons of interest" but no arrests had as yet been made.

"We were out there again today (Tuesday) having a new look at things," he said.

"We are looking at a few lines of inquiry and a number of people of interest.

"But we are still appealing to members of the public who may be able to help us in this investigation to come forward and assist us."

The mosque in West St sustained major damage when set alight some time early Friday morning last week.
