Police traffic operation ends with fines and charges

ACROSS the Dalby and Burnett region 19 people will appear in court on 26 charges following a police traffic operation targeting the Fatal Five.

From Tuesday, January 8 to Friday, January 11 a traffic operation was conducted by police to detect speeding, drink and drug driving, seatbelts, driving while fatigued and distraction and inattention.

Acting Sergeant Andy Gates from the Dalby Road Policing Unit stated the operation was successful with 208 roadside breath tests conducted.

Police fined 63 people for a variety of traffic offences, 15 people tested positive to roadside drug tests and one mid range drink driver was detected.

The four day operation involved officers from the Dalby Road Policing Unit, Kingaroy Road Policing Unit, Blackbutt Station, Yarraman Station, Cooyar Station, Peranga Station, Nanango Station, Chinchilla Station, Tara Station and Meandarra Station.

The operation utilised a high visibility police presence from the Dalby Burnett Patrol Group to enhance community safety.
