Poona man's SPER account tops $16,000 with yet another fine
A POONA man with more than $15,000 in outstanding fines has fronted the Maryborough Magistrates Court to be slapped with yet another fine.
Christian John Norman James, 20, pleaded guilty to driving unaccompanied while on a learner licence on February 1 last year.
Police prosecutor Kath Stagoll said the unemployed man had no emergency reason for driving and was "just cruising around".
She pointed out that James had a "fairly severe" traffic and criminal history and had $15,800 in outstanding debts with the State Penalty Enforcement Registry.
Defence counsel John Willett told the court his client had turned his life around.
Magistrate John Smith fined him $500 and disqualified his licence for six months.
