Pot seized from creek in massive scale drug haul
KINGAROY detectives have seized hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of marijuana plants from creek beds this month.
Kingaroy Stock and Rural Crimes Investigations Squad Detective Sergeant Mark Ferling said the potential street value of the drugs seized was significant for the area.
Det Sgt Ferling said 251 marijuana plants and 1.4kg of dried marijuana was seized in total from the raids.
He said the estimated value of the dried marijuana was $15,000 but the street value of the marijuana plants soared into the hundreds of thousands.
Det Sgt Ferling said the total amount resulted from three separate property raids in the coastal hinterland south of Gympie.
He said drug utensils and an unregistered air rifle were also found during the raids.
Det Sgt Ferling and Detective Senior Constable Paul Jones arrested five people on 14 charges in total for the alleged drug crimes.
Det Sgt Ferling thanked the public for information which led to the arrests, and urged people to continue to help police with any suspected criminal activity.
