Proston couple make Young Achiever finals

YOUNG Proston business owners Anita and Nick Blanch are finalists for the Queensland Young Achiever Awards in the small business category.

The couple own the NB Inspirations department store and the Jacaranda Tea Room in Proston.

Speaking to the South Burnett Times after the nomination in early January, Mr Blanch said the couple valued the importance of community.

"We put the community first generally, we have never gone out to make a profit,” he said.

"We have gone out to improve the town.

"Everything we do in the business is all for the community.”

South Burnett councillor Ros Heit nominated the couple.

"They are a fantastic, enthusiastic couple who have given so much for their community.

"It is admirable to see a young couple stepping up and being proactive and innovative,” Cr Heit said.

"I'm delighted by how far they have gone in this statewide recognition of young achievers and wish them all the best for the final.

"I think councillor Kathy Duff and I will attend the gala dinner and cheer them on.

"They are already champions by being finalists. Well done to them both.”
