Pumpkin festival launches new site

THE Goomeri Pumpkin Festival committee has rolled out a brand new website to make it more accessible for people to join in their iconic pumpkin roll.

A Goomeri Project spokesman said the new website had all the updated news and event details in a user-friendly format.

Visitors will be able to book a campsite or apply to host a stall at the event in one single click.

Pumpkin festival co-ordinator Kim Boyter said she was pleased with the new site.

"Although it took some time to launch the new website, but the end result is a great one,” she said.

The festival committee decided the website was long overdue and an important element of the festival since most visitors checked details online.

The unique festival was attended by 17,000 people from as far as India and Chile last year.

"And this year the festival is not only going to get bigger, but greener,” a Goomeri Project spokesman said.

Ms Boyter said the festival not only boosts the local economy but has a long-lasting effect on the community.

"Creating a healthy and sustainable event is important to have a safe environment for future generations,” she said.

The website will also have all of the information about nearby tourism options.

The festival committee will work with other tourism bodies from Gympie and the South Burnett area to create brand awareness about the beloved festival which has been running since 1997.
