Rachael has a date with V8 destiny

CALOUNDRA teenager Rachael Burnes has what it takes to be a V8 calendar girl.

The 18-year-old joined 20 girls from south-east Queensland on Friday night to vie for the chance to compete at the V8 Supermodel National Final, which will be held at the Gold Coast 600 at the end of the month.

The paramedic student said she was shocked when it was announced she would join 12 others in the final.

"I was a little nervous at first when going through the heats, but by the final I was just so happy to be there," Ms Burnes said.

"The whole experience was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again."

The competitors modelled sportswear and bikinis.

Ms Burnes will travel to Surfers Paradise to attend VIP events and photo shoots for the 2015 V8 Supermodel Calendar.

As one of the top 12 finalists, she will be featured on a page in the calendar.

Ms Burnes said if she won the final on October 25 she would be featured on the front page of the calendar.

"I am thrilled to be given this opportunity and be a part of the GC600," she said.
