
Record-breaking racing at Kingaroy speedway
IT WAS a record-breaking night of racing at Kingaroy Speedway's season opener on Saturday night.
Three new lap records were set across the seven classes of racing with the new surface proving to be fast.
Klinton Hancey set the first record of the night in the mod lites with a time of 14.994 seconds smashing Sam Gollschewsky's time of 15.764 seconds recorded in May.
Queensland lightning sprint champion Kevin Blatch set a new record of 13.256 seconds, breaking a record from 2011.
Tim Weir broke his own record from May 2017 in national fours with a time of 16.655 seconds in his Ford Sierra.
It was the first meeting of the new season with racing to return to Kingaroy on November 10.
