Recycle paint for free when Paintback truck rolls into town
CROWIES Paints has organised to bring Paintback to the South Burnett to help give the region's residents a chance to get rid of paint waste properly.
On Saturday, June 22, Paintback will be at the Kingaroy Showgrounds on Youngman St to collect and recycle your paint at no charge.
Simon Gibson from Crowies Paints Kingaroy said the event was already well planned out.
"The big Paintback truck will come up on Friday afternoon and will set up from 6am,” Mr Gibson said.
"Paintback will also be bringing six professional staff members to help us sort out the paint.”
Gates will open to the public from 7am and Mr Gibson said people would be able drive in, before having their paint unloaded for them, and exiting onto Avoca St.
You will be able to drop off up to 100 litres of paint, in containers no bigger than 20 litres.
Mr Gibson advised people to check the Paintback website to see what sort of paint can be dropped off.
"Instead of when you have to pay at the dump to drop it off, it's a great and free opportunity,” Mr Gibson said.
"Depending on the response we get, we've also already asked the question of whether or not we can do it again as an annual event.”
Whether or not Paintback will return will depend on the success of the June 22 event as Mr Gibson said the paint would need to be recycled and reworked in a profitable way for Paintback.
"That's the importance of many people getting involved. The more the merrier, and it's a good community service to recycle it, because the waste gets put back into various useful things,” he said.
