Man charged for stealing fishing reel in Kingaroy

A MAN who allegedly walked out of the BCF Kingaroy store with a fishing reel hidden underneath his shorts has been charged with stealing.

Kingaroy Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said the man was in the shop for "a while" before he walked out and jumped into his car, allegedly with the reel.

"At some stage he's secreted the reel in his shorts, left the shop and activated the alarm," Snr Sgt Frank said.

He said the store saw the alleged offender on CCTV records.

Snr Sgt Frank said the alleged stealing offence happened in October, but the man was only found and charged with stealing on December 3.

The fishing reel was recovered.

The man will face Kingaroy Magistrates Court in January.
