Residents get crafty for hilltop markets
HOMEMADE tomato relish, rocky road and garden ornaments were some of the treasures found at Orana's Hilltop Markets.
Orana cottage resident Barbara Williams said it was nice to see the hard work come together at the markets on Saturday November 24.
"The residents seem to be excited to be having the markets here,” she said.
"A lot of hard work has gone into it.”
Most of the craft, home made jams and relishes and treasure stalls were collated by the residents at the aged care and retirement living centre.
"They've made strawberry jam, made gorgeous cakes, apricot balls and Christmas puddings with chocolate in them,” Ms Williams said.
The residents all gathered together over the past two months to organise and create the goods for the markets at Orana's activity room.
"Some got hold of stones, washed them all up to be painted like ladybirds and garden ornaments,” she said.
Entertainment from the barbershop group, dance groups and a special performing dog were some of the sights around the markets.
The stalls were a combined effort of residents, family and other stall holders from the community.
"It's nice to see the support the community gives to Orana,” she said.
The Orana Hilltop Markets were run from 8am to 1pm on Saturday November 24 at the Orana Aged Care, Retirement Living and Home Support in Kingaroy.
