REVEALED: NRL Legends are coming back to Cherbourg

AFTER such a remarkable event this year, the International Legends of League are coming back in 2020.

Event co-ordinator Troy Byers said the popular sporting spectacle would be coming back bigger and better in 2020.

"Our players loved coming out this year," he said.

"They thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the community."

The 2020 event will be extra special as it will include a two-day carnival for all players to get involved in.

"Cherbourg hasn't had a carnival like this since 1988," Byers said.

"We've already got teams from Cairns."

The carnival is sure to attract some talented players, with $10,000 prizemoney for the winning men's team and $6,000 for the women's winner.

Byers said the legends game and the carnival was an ideal way to generate interest for the region.

"The drought has made it tough, but this carnival will inject 500 competitors alone to the region," he said.

The event will be held on February 7 and 8, 2020.

Former NRL players confirmed include Matt Bowen, Cliff Lyons, John Hopoate, Ben Hannant, Willie Tonga and Chris Walker.

Plenty more players are still to be announced.
