REVEALED: When new Kingaroy IGA complex will be open

SOUTH Burnett shoppers awaiting a time frame on how long it will be before the opening of the new Kingaroy IGA complex need not wait any longer.

IGA regulars have become accustomed to seeing the hardworking tradies preparing the new complex.

Once complete, the Kingaroy centre will boast an updated IGA supermarket and cafe, a bottle shop, chemist, takeaway food store and another shop still to be leased.

While the chemist is already open for business, the other stores are not far off.

Powercat is the business behind the complex refurbishment. One of their directors, Steve Kay, said the construction was coming along smoothly.

"It's at the pointy end,” he said.

Mr Kay said the bottle shop would be opened in the next few weeks.

One of the bottle shop operators, Josh Kinsella, said there wasn't much more they needed to do before they would be operational.

"Couple of weeks and we will be up and going,” he said.

"Just got a few finishing touches left to do.”

Facilities manager Daniel Catanzaro said while the 20sq m empty space was still for lease, he didn't think it would stay that way for long.

"Our leasing agent is talking to a few people,” he said.

The new takeaway store, Husky's Burgers, will be opened in the second week of November.

The carpark is getting an upgrade as well and the shade sails will be replaced.

"We had to move them for construction, so we will putting the sails back up,” Mr Kay said.

IGA manager Trace O'Neill said they were confident they would be all-systems-go by early November.

"It's all smooth sailing,” he said.

"We'd like to thank our customers and apologise for the inconvenience.

"When we finish it will be all worth it.”
