Job losses in Rocky as Hastings Deering reshuffles

HASTINGS Deering's "role reductions" across Central Queensland will see job losses in Rockhampton.

It is understood that from the 100 roles lost, about 50 will be from Blackwater while the remainder is shared between Rockhampton and Mackay.

The company this week said the reductions were the result of a recent review of Queensland operations and determined them to be the "right course of action".

"The decision to reduce workforce numbers has not been taken lightly and we acknowledge the impact that these changes have on employees, their families and the communities in which they live," a statement from Hastings Deering read.

"We have been working closely with impacted employees to identify potential redeployment opportunities and assist with their transition."
