Rocky man charged for turning on fire hydrant at The Empire

POLICE have charged a man, 22, for willful damage after he allegedly turned on a fire hydrant in a stairwell at Rockhampton's The Empire apartments overnight Sunday.

Rockhampton police CIB Detective Sergeant Nick Williams said it would be alleged the man's action caused damage, including flooding in the basement car park.

The man will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 18.

The Empire officially opened late last year.
