Sabbatini to play at Coolum

SOUTH African Rory Sabbatini has been confirmed as a starter for next month's Australian PGA Championship at Coolum.

It will be the Sabbatini's first appearance at the event since 2007.

The world No.102 will join the likes of Greg Chalmers, Darren Clarke, Greg Norman, Geoff Ogilvy, John Senden and Robert Allenby at the Palmer Coolum Resort from December 13-16.

Sabbatini, 36, led the Australian PGA Championship heading into the fourth day at his one and only appearance at the event five years ago, but was overtaken by eventual winner Peter Lonard.

He has six PGA tour wins to his name with his last coming at the 2011 Honda Classic.

He has slipped down the world rankings this year with his best result being a share of second at the Memorial Tournament.

Australians Marc Leishman and Brendan Jones have also been added to the field, the PGA of Australia announced this morning.
