Rotary takes a walk for mental health awareness

FOR Val Hooper, one of the best ways to clear the mind is through a casual stroll.

"It really is good I think for clearing your head and putting things in perspective," Mrs Hooper said.

"It is almost meditative. I breathe in the fresh air.

"It's very good. It's simple and it's cheap, anybody can do it."

The Rotary Club of Kingaroy vice-president got her feet moving at the Walk for Mental Health fundraiser on Sunday morning.

Participants walked up the Bunya Hwy to the Kingaroy TAFE campus to assist the work of Australian Rotary Health.

"One of the things they do is provide research grants into mental health," Mrs Hooper said.

"Particularly in the last few years it's been rural and regional mental health."
