A VIRAL video to highlight problems from water run-off on private properties on the outskirts of Kingaroy has got the attention of the council and a promise for action.
Farm owner Tina Torrens uploaded a video to YouTube two weeks ago to share the problems water run-off has had on her, and neighbours' properties.
"Quite frankly, I can no longer support my husband and our neighbours from the sidelines any further," Mrs Torrens said in the video.
The video then shows images of heavy water-runoff she said had hit her Tessmanns Rd North property since 2008, with Mrs Torrens blaming the near Summit View Estate.
"Why should it be our problem?" Mrs Torrens asked.
Roads portfolio holder Councillor Damien Tessmann said he understood landholders concerns but said the council was never supportive of the estate when it was proposed.
"The Kingaroy Shire Council refused the development prior to amalgamation," Cr Tessmann said.
But an appeal by the developer to the Planning and Environment Court overruled the council.
This year's budget had $270,000 allocated in it to address the problem, but Cr Tessmann said it can help the speed of the run-off, but not solve all the problems.
"I understand the emotion behind it and they are well within their rights to put out the video," he said.
"The problem is the speed of the water flowing."
He said work to improve the flow would begin sometime next year.
