Sale opens doors for families to give pets a forever home

IF YOUR family are looking for a furry friend, RSPCA's sale this weekend will be a good place to start.

Kingaroy RSPCA will be holding a Mates Rates sale by slashing adoption fees by 25 per cent on January 26 and 27.

Kingaroy volunteer Shayne Young said there were plenty of different types of pets to suit every potential owner.

"If they are after a pet and not sure what they want, they've got options,” he said.

Mr Young said the animals had been checked for being friendly and up-to-date with vaccinations.

"If people are really interested in getting a pet, it's a good place to start,” he said.

The sale also includes discounts of 25 per cent on products sold at RSPCA shops.

RSPCA Queensland spokesman Michael Beatty said this weekend was the perfect opportunity for people to take the plunge if they were considering a pet.

"I encourage everyone who's interested in adopting to visit their closest RSPCA Queensland Adoption Centre this weekend,” he said.

This state-wide sale follows a pop up adoption event in Brisbane which saw more than 270 animals adopted in the one day.

"We saw kittens, puppies and even guinea pigs find loving homes, but there are still so many beautiful animals out there waiting to find their forever home,” Mr Beatty.

Current pet owners may also take advantage of the sale and support animal welfare through other discounts.

"Customers will receive 25 per cent off if you book online at RSPCA World For Pets and RSPCA Op Shops,” he said.

"When purchasing from RSPCA-affiliated businesses, you can guarantee that all profits will go towards animal welfare and protection.”

RSPCA School for Dogs will also be 25 per cent off if you book online at www.schoolfordogs.com.au and use the code SUMMER25.

The RSPCA Kingaroy Animal Care Centre is open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
