Save the date for Wondai's Community Carols
SOUTH Burnett residents can start to get excited for the upcoming festive season, as a date and program has been set for the Wondai Community Carols.
Elaine Madill, president of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery, thinks all visitors are in for a delightful time.
"We have a lot of entertainment planned for the evening. We'll have the Wondai CWA and community choir as well as the Wondai senior citizens choir and the Wondai town band will be playing all the carols throughout the night.
"Winston Burrows is our MC and he does the Christmas carols each year. It's great to stay consistent because the town knows what the night will be like each year. People don't forget us easily," she said.
The event will be held at the Wondai RSL at 6pm on Wednesday, December 12.
"We've had so many days where we've had to move it from the park because of the storms at this time of year, so we decided that we'll keep holding it at the RSL instead. The RSL are very generous to us and let us have the facility free of charge," Ms Madill said.
There are also a range of activities to entertain the children before the event.
"The Wondai Lions Club are doing a sausage sizzle for $2 each in the barbecue area, and in the front room, we'll be holding free activities for the children.
"There will be face painting, drawing and regular painting, and the kids can come there beforehand to have a play before settling down in the main room for the carols," Ms Madill said.
Ms Madill is also excited to showcase a community hip-hop group again.
"We're having a hip-hop group come along to perform, too. It's a group of teenagers who originally came to ask if they could use our hall to practice. It's great to see these students keeping active and busy, and we're proud to have them perform for us for the second year in a row.
"Overall, we expect to have a lot of people come join us at the event, and we have already printed a hundred copies of our program in advance," she said.
