THE Fire and Rescue Scientific Response has been called to Wooroolin after mercury was found inside a woolshed beside the wetlands.

Murgon acting station manager Colin Morrow said a minimal amount of mercury was found in a medical implement.

"For the safety of everyone concerned we have initiated fire's scientific branch and they have responded from Brisbane," he said.

"They have got their special vacuum cleaner and a special instrument for detecting the amount of mercury in the atmosphere and they have deemed it safe and they're clearing it up."
