Rockhampton man threatened Mt Isa police with axe

A 37-YEAR-OLD Rockhampton man who threatened police with an axe was charged with serious assault of police after officers were called to a disturbance at Mt Isa early Friday morning.

It is alleged police attended a Fifteenth Ave residence around 1.50am where they were confronted by an agitated man armed with an axe, who began threatening them.

He was tasered by police and taken into custody.

The Frenchville man appeared in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court yesterday.
